SHUMACK in NSW and ACT
In NSW the SHUMACK surname continued with descendants of 7 brothers (cousins of Amos) who emigrated in 1840, 1841 and 1856 and settled in the areas of Bathurst, New South Wales and Canberra which later became part of the Australian Capital Territory. All died in Australia.
These seven SHUMACK brothers were sons of Peter SHOEMAKER (c1770-1848) and his second wife Elizabeth (prob FITZELLE):

Mary SCHUMACHER, in fact, immigrated from Kilfinane, Ireland to Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, Michael Stroud and children in about 1850. Both are buried in the Kincardine Cemetery in Bruce Co.
Their daughter Hannah, born in Ireland in 1841, married Alexander LINDSAY of White Rock, Michigan in 1855. Hannah and Alexander
are my g g grandparents and are buried in Rockfalls Cemetery, Harbor Beach, Michigan. They, along with many other descendants of Michael and Mary STROUD live in Ontario and Michigan, as well as across the USA.

His stone residence at Elizabeth Farm was built in 1838 and had a large basement to accommodate assigned servants.
In 1842 John SHUMACK obtained a lease of abt 100 acres of Glebe Land and erected a 3 roomed slab house with a bark roof. He was the first tenant of Glebe Farm which was on the western boundary of Duntroon with a frontage to the Molonglo River. John "took an active part in church affairs and helped to cart the stone used in the building of St John's Church, where he was one of the first wardens." [EW p236]
