William SHUMACK was born abt 1804 Co Limerick, Ireland. William SHUMACK (Protestant) and Eliza DOHERTY (RC) from Co Cork were married in Co Cork, Ireland about 1836 and immigrated to New South Wales on the Resource which arrived in Sydney on 22 December 1840. With them were their first two children, Richard and Margaret b . Also on this ship were William Snr's brothers, George and Samuel. They were the first Shumacks to come to Australia, sons of Peter Shoemaker and Eliza/Elizabeth, natives of Doneraile, Co Cork.

9. Ann Jane SHUMACK b 20 Oct 1853 Meadow Flat bapt 24 Jan 1854 All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Bathurst, d/o William and Eliza SHUMACK, Farmer and Grazier. From 24 Aug 1897 Ann Jane was hospitalised at Gladesville, Sydney where she remained for 20 years. At the age of 64 years she was transferred to Stockton Hospital.
