Catherine Care HUTCHENS was born Cornwall, England, Father: George OLIVER, Miller, Mother: Mary ms HOSKIN, Present and Usual Residence: Springhill, married 31 Jan 1862 at Creswick by Rev. John Brown STEEL, Officiating Minister, according to the rites of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria.
George COLE, Manufacturer of Cordials, aged 40 (b abt 1822), Widower. Former wife was Margaret RICHARDSON who died in December 1860, Nelson New Zealand (no issue). George COLE born Islington, London, Father: James COLE, Shoemaker, Mother: Elizabeth COLE ms totally unknown, Present and Usual Residence: Creswick. George COLE declared that he was a member of the Church of England and Catherine Care HUTCHENS declared that she was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Both signed in the presence of William WHATMAN and Samuel ABRAHAM [R/N 11, Certificate 717 provided by Kerri Painter]

Catherine Care COLE made herXmark as informant and sister to register the death of John Hoskin OLIVER who died 14 May 1873 aged 63 yrs at Spring Gully, Creswick. He was a Miner s/o George OLIVER, a Miller, and Mary ms HOSKIN. He was born in Cornwall, England and had lived 7 yrs in Adelaide and 19 yrs in Victoria. He had been married in Cornwall aged 24 yrs to Catherine MERRIFIELD and had no issue. John Hoskin OLIVER was bur 16 May 1873 in the Creswick Cemetery, Undertaker: A PASCO, Minister: Rev James GLOVER, C of E. [Death cert 2273]
'Granny Cole' was an old lady within living memory in the 1980s. Apparently both Catherine and her daughter Rosetta NEWTON were excellent horsewomen.

Deceased was born Cornwall, England, lived abt 7 yrs in South Australia (arr c1847) and abt 29 yrs in Victoria (arr c1854). Father: George OLIVER, Miller, Mother: Mary OLIVER ms not known. Married (1.) in Cornwall, (m2.) aged 47 yrs to George COLE. Issue by Former Marriage: Mary 48 yrs, Rosetta (age illegible), John 43 yrs, Nanny 42 yrs. ment, the Creswick Cemetery. Funeral to

Dean-road, THIS DAY (Wednesday, 12th
December, 1883), at 3:30 p.m. punctually.
