In 1982 George Albert Burrell published The Life and Times of his grandfather George Burrell (1864-1918) son of Alexander Burrell and Helen Law. George kept a diary of his voyage to Australia in 1883 and became a watchmaker in Sydney. With kind permission Burrell family history from the book is shared on these pages. 9. Alexander and Helen BURRELL with six of their children immigrated to Australia on the Anglo Indian which departed Glasgow, Scotland 6 Jul 1883 (GR) and arrived at Townsville, Queensland, Australia on 13 Sep 1883. Also on this voyage was George and Margaret STENHOUSE (ms BURRELL) and their nine children. Margaret, niece of Alexander, was born abt 1842 Legerwood d/o John BURRELL/Euphemia LEADBETTER. These two families had moved to Sydney, New South Wales by 1886.
