1876 Letter
A letter dated 8 Sep 1876 was written to relatives in Australia by 19 year old Emily Hardwell whose address was Prospect Cottage, West Street, Bedminster, Bristol, Somersetshire, England. Emily was the informant and was present at the death of her grandfather George SMITH on 1 Sep 1876 at Pensford. News of the family included: Your Uncle James Smith is still living in Pensford. All his children are grown up and doing well. He has two sons married. They are keeping the Smith's name well up for Tom Smith has four boys and Jesse 2 boys. He (James) has 2 daughters married and 2 daughters and 1 son seem to be confirmed old maids and a bachelor. They are all doing well and send their love to their cousin George.
