Father of Henry and Joseph ALLEN was Joseph ALLEN, chr 13 Feb 1780 at Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, England, a soldier in the 2nd Battalion of the 62nd Wiltshire Regiment, who fought in the Waterloo campaign from 1807 until May 1814. The regiment then left Italy for Nova Scotia where Joseph ALLEN fought in many battles until the 2nd Battalion returned to Ireland in 1823. He was discharged in May 1824 on an army pension. He then re-enlisted in the Royal Veterans Corps in December 1825, and arrived in Van Diemen's Land in August 1826. He was finally discharged in George Town, VDL, in 1829. (Robert Allen)
