After Ann's death her widowed husband Charles GILES went to live with their eldest son William who stayed in the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire area.
Their other four children (Elizabeth, Thomas, Mary Ann and Charles Jnr) all left England for Australia in 1852 and 1853 as goldrush immigrants to Ballarat, Victoria, where they took up land and as farmers grew the produce to feed the influx of miners.
