WATER WISE
The school was involved in the development and trialling of the Water Wise kit produced by Central Highlands Water. The children's work was displayed and when the kit was released Mt Clear students were featured on television. During Water Week 1993 the Sun Herald Learn section produced an article about the work done at Canadian Creek. Our students have also been interviewed on national radio for the Education Report with Jane Figgis.

WATER MONITORING
For several years students have contributed data to the Saltwatch program. The greatest number of water samples for testing was 120. The slogan for this statewide program is "Involve me and I'll understand". Mt Clear PS children participate in the National Water Week education program and Mt Clear Secondary College environmental studies students regularly carry out water monitoring activities at Canadian Creek.
LINCS
The school works in conjunction with the Ballarat LINCS (Linear Network of Communal Spaces) Committee which has developed a Master Plan (1995) for the rehabilitation of Ballarat's waterways. An extract from the LINCS Report of 29 July 1996 states: "The Canadian Creek day organised by LINCS member Mt Clear Primary School was a success. Works undertaken included the placing of rocks in the stream, planting ~400 trees and shrubs, seeding and general maintenance. Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers (ATCV) assisted with an excellent turn out which included many members of the Baha'i Community who are keen for more LINCS involvement."
We are delighted that the City of Ballarat, through the LINCS project, has assumed responsibility for improving the Canadian Creek corrridor. This has been the case since June 1996 when 'over zealous' removal of vegetation and digging by contractors along two kilometres of the creek caused a fuss.
